CMIS set to replace CPIS/MGEL

With a view to streamline the personnel management information system of the State Government employees, Central Management Information System (CMIS) will replace the existing Computerised Personnel Information System (CPIS/MGEL) in eight departments on pilot basis with effect from December 1.An order to this effect was issued by Principal Secretary (Finance) Rakesh Ranjan on November 24 .
The order mentioned that CMIS is a centralised web based integrated personnel information and payroll system and is a step in the direction of achieving the aim of paperless electronic payroll system viz; paybill generation, electronic submission, electronic audit and electronic payment to employees.
The eight departments where MGEL would be replaced by CMIS are Agriculture, Treasury & Accounts, Water Resource, General Administration, Department of Personnel, Veterinary & Animal Husbandry, Revenue and SCERT.
Selected staff of the eight departments on introduction of CMIS were imparted necessary training from October 29 to November 5 this year, informed a source.
