Senapati, August 19 2014:
Laii Circle is a cluster of six Villages comprising of Laii Village, Chingmai Khullen, Chingmai Khunou, Katafiimai, Laii Shirafii and New Laii.
Situated to the Northern part of Manipur under Paomata Sub-Division in Senapati District bordering Phek District of Nagaland in the West and North, Ukhrul District of Manipur in the East.
The nearest point of NH from Laii Village is 42 Kms at Tadubi.
Despite proximity to well-connected Villages on other side of border (Nagaland), Laii circle has been under continuous negligence from the Manipur State Govt.agencies in all developmental arenas particularly in connectivity of road.
Due to the pathetic state of road, Laii circle village's faces immense difficulties in commuting to the nearest Town to avail basic amenities of life including taking the sick to the Hospital.
Adding to this mess, the vehicle owners are unwilling to ply on this road, quoting the damages it caused to the vehicles and the risks involved in negotiating the life threatening breath and turns of the road.
Therefore, the villagers are left with no other option but to negotiate the vehicle owner in an exorbitant rate of fare for all transportation when any emergency arises.
In view of this apathy by the Govt.agencies to address the grievance, Chairmen and secretaries.
Of Laii Circle Villages have decided to take upon itself to repair the only lifeline to these villages i.e.Tadubi-Tungjoy-Laii (TT- Laii Road) (entire male population) a stretch of 27kms from Liyai Khunou to Laii Shirafii on 25th August 2014 .
