'Cooperative is a platform for uplifting socio-eco condition'

Imphal, April 18 2017:
Development and socio-economic condition in Manipur can be uplifted and improved through medium of co-operative organisations, said Social Welfare Minister Nemcha Kipgen while addressing as the chief guest in the inaugural function of the one day State level seminar on "Sustainable Development of Manipur State through Cooperatives" sponsored by NCUI, New Delhi at GM Hall today.
Speaking at the occasion, Minister Nemcha Kipgen said cooperative is a platform where people from different backgrounds can uplift their socio-economic conditions through sustainable and inclusive growth of the society.

She further stated that entrepreneurs who utilise advanced technologies have dominated the market.
As a result, weavers who use traditional weaving looms could not compete and therefore lack behind in terms of generating income.
Keeping in mind about the shortages and weaknesses of these weavers, Chief Minister N Biren Singh has planned to initiate various steps that will provide a better platform for the weavers to generate sustainable income, Nemcha Kipgen said.
The inaugural function was also attended by Cooperative Societies Registrar L Nabakishwar Singh, MSCU president cum ICM Chairman L Tompishak Singh and ICM, Imphal Director Dr N Ranjana Devi.
