Imphal, July 07 2011:
UNLF chairman RK Meghen alias Sanayaima has expressed confidence that other countries of the world would surely extend support to the liberation movement in Manipur.
Talking to mediapersons while being produced in the Special Court of NIA at Guwahati today, RK Meghen said that in the ongoing Indo-Manipur armed conflict, other countries and more particularly those in the East, which have closer affinity with us in appearance and thoughts are more understanding of the significance of the ongoing liberation movement and would chip as the third countries.
Stating that Manipur has the same geo-political environment like any other sovereign countries in the world, the rebel leader observed that the 'historical background' and 'geographical structure' of Manipur will stand in good stead in the ongoing liberation movement.
Expressing unhappiness over narrow parochial outlook among different groups of people living in Manipur that mar the liberation movement, the rebel leader asserted that the 'divide and rule' policy and the caste system thrust upon the people by India on the pretext of assuring some benefits has impeded the progress of the freedom struggle.
It is high time for all the people to repose their trust on the freedom movement and confront such defective system.
Everyone should understand that no force in the world would be able to subdue the aspiration of the people, the rebel leader exhorted.

In response to a question on the alleged counter measures of the Government of India to suppress the liberation movement in Manipur, RK Meghen observed that the efforts of India in signing Indo-Bangladesh or Indo-Myanmar bilateral agreements under the assumption of flushing out UGs operating from the within the territories of neighbouring countries would never be successful.
The liberation movement of Manipur is base in Manipur itself and it is being operated successfully with the co-operation and support of the people both in the hills and the valleys and on account of the advantage of geographical structure of Manipur, he added.
He went on to say that public should understand the forces which are trying to tarnish the image of the ongoing freedom movement.
It is also high time for all the leaders of the revolutionary groups to come together and be aware of the different tactics being employed to defeat the liberation movement.
The initiative started somewhere in Myanmar for all the like-minded revolutionary groups in North East region to join hands and fight together should continue and only then there can be progress in the ongoing movement.
However, coming together only in name sake with reservation over each other's party policy would not bring about any process, the rebel leader said.
Reiterating that no force in the world would be able to suppress the liberation movement in Manipur, the UNLF chairman noted that even a superpower country like America had to taste defeat in the hands of a small Nation like Vietnam.
He alleged that people who are trying for resolution of the Indo-Manipur conflict honourably are being threatened and gagged.
People should stand against such threats collectively and not be disheartened, he said.
Stating that UNLF is a group which believes in its collective leadership, the rebel leader said that even though he is in the custody of NIA and could not participate in the day to affairs of the group, the activities of UNLF still continue in accordance to its policies and programmes.
