Ukhrul, November 26 2011:
In relation with the forthcoming 10th Manipur State Legislative Assembly election slated to be held in February 2012, a political consultative meeting was held today at the residence of RS Turner located at Wunghou village of Ukhrul district.
Supporting RS Turner as intending candidate for the 44 Ukhrul (ST) Assembly Constituency, various village chiefs, elders, pastors and other supporters attended the consultative meeting.
Participants who spoke at the meeting urged RS Turner to contest the coming election on Naga People's Front (NPF) ticket.
The speakers also made a fervent appeal to central leaders of NPF to allot the party ticket to RS Turner who has a clean public image with unquestionable integrity.
Speaking at the occasion, the intending candidate emphasised that tribal communities in Manipur are badly in need of good leaders who can protect their rights.
He lamented that the incumbent tribal MLAs have totally failed to perform their duties assigned to them by the people.
RS Turner also remarked that only a regional party like NPF can fulfil the regional political aspirations.
He further observed that the Nagas and the Kukis must unite together to uphold common tribal rights.
