Imphal, October 12 2014:
The All Manipur Domestic LPG Consumer's Welfare Association, Manipur (AMDCWA) has urged the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) Limited as well as the Manipur Government to make surplus cooking gas available and address the LPG shortage faced by the people of the State which crops up from time to time.
President of the AMDCWA, Jayanta Angomcha stated that even though the Narendra Modi Government had assured to supply 12 cylinders of Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) at subsidized Government rate to every household in a year, such assurance is yet to be reflected in Manipur.
A household in Manipur gets only four or five cylinders of LPG a year, stated Jayanta while speaking to media persons during a press meet held at Manipur Press Club, Imphal today.
Jayanta further maintained that families with the strength of five to six people find it hard to survive with such a meagre supply of LPG by IOC distributors.
He also said that the hurdles faced by the people while getting a new LPG connection and the shortage of LPG distributors in the State should be tackled as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, he appealed to the people to acquire their own genuine domestic gas consumer cards and also perform maintenance check every year and use ISI marked gas pipes and pressure regulators.
