Last respect paid to K Sinam victims

The State today paid last respects to the State armed security personnel (MR/IRB) who were killed in a massive landslide along Imphal-Jiribam highway yesterday.
After post mortem at RIMS, the mortal remains of the six security personnel were taken to the memorial tomb located inside 1st Bn Manipur Rifles complex.
Notably, the memorial tomb was constructed in honour of all the Manipur Police personnel who died in the line of duty.
The mortal remains of the six security personnel wrapped with the tricolour were given a fitting salute.
Top police officials led by the DGP and family members laid wreaths on the mortal remains one by one.
This was followed by offering of general salute, sounding of last post and gun salute.

Later the corpses were taken to their respective places.
Altogether 24 MR/IRB personnel were travelling in a bus along Imphal Jiribam highway when a sudden and massive landslide buried their bus near K Sinam village at around 2.15 pm yesterday While six of them died, seven others sustained injuries.
The deceased victims were Thokchom Yaima (5th IRB Havildar) of Samaram Mamang Leikai, Thoubal dist, Naseer Khan (2nd MR Rifleman) of Kwakta, Bishnupur dist, Athokpam Maradona (6th IRB Rifleman) of Singjamei Wangma Kshetri Leikai, Lalchhanliam (8th MR Rifleman) of New Lamka, Churachandpur district, KC Diamond (5th MR Rifleman) of Tamenglong and Naorem Surchandra (5th MR Rifleman) of Thoubal Kiyam Siphai.
