Imphal, November 13 2014:
A woman who reportedly overstepped all social norms and restrictions, and acted like a freak has been boycotted by the Singjamei Apunba Nupi Lup.
Speaking to media persons at Singjamei community hall this evening, Thongam Binashakhi, a key functionary of the Lup, said that Salam (O) Prabha w/o Jadumani of Singjamei Mayengbam Leikai, who works in Manipur Police, has been ostracised for all the excesses she committed.
On November 4, Prabha allegedly went to the house of one Sanasam Imocha (39) of Singjamei Okram Leikai, removed her clothes and embraced Imocha in an attempt to claim compensation for outraging her chastity, Binashakhi said.
Prabha lent some money to Imocha's sister-in-law Momota.
She went to Okram Leikai on November 4 morning to take back her money.
In her attempt to reclaim the money, Prabha started shouting offensive words.
At this, Imocha tried to mollify Prabha saying that his sister-in-law was not at home at the moment.
Prabha came again the same day together with her son and embraced Imocha who was then repairing an excavator, said Binashakhi.
In connection with the incident, both the parties were summoned but Prabha did not give any response.
Rather she exposed her arrogance by declaring that Meira Paibis did not matter to her, said Maibam Sarojini, another leader of the Meira Paibi group.
Had this unusual offence been committed by a man to a woman, the man could have been punished by the public.
But what Prabha did was a frontal assault on the society and she is a blot on all Manipuri women.
That is why, she has been ostracised.
