Rail tunnel completed

The NF Railway Construction Organisation has completed work of Tunnel No 7 in Jiribam-Tupul-Imphal new BG rail line project (National Project) and on Nov 5 at 4.30 pm.
The length of the tunnel is 1929 metres.
The work for the tunnel was carried out from both ends despite the poor land strata.
The tunnel passes 25 meter beneath National Highway-37 at Imphal end, a statement issued by the NFR informed.
With this, the NF Railway has completed 9 tunnels.
The NFR is further planning to complete at least 11 tunnels (out of 34) during the current financial year between Jiribam-Tupul.
So far, about 25 kms out of 39.4 kms tunnelling work has been completed between Jiribam-Tupul since the tunnel works started effectively in 2011-12, it added.
