Dipper driver dies in mishap

/IMPHAL, Nov 13: In an unfortunate incident, a dipper driver engaged at the ongoing railway line construction at Awangkhul in Tamenglong district was run over by a dipper which claimed his life.
The deceased driver has been identified as Sonaram Dika (40) from Assam engaged under Triveni Construction Company.
According to sources, the incident happened around 2 am in the early hours when the railway workers had just started off the day's work at the particular site.
The accident happened when Sonaram in his attempt to get his smoke (mantu biri) was accidently run over by a dipper driven by one of his friend.
The dipper ran over his right leg.
He was brought up to RIMS for treatment around 4 am when doctors suggested amputating his right leg.
Excessive bleeding which resulted from the amputation ultimately claimed his life and he was declared dead by doctors at 9 am today.
