Dissemination of information on programmes and schemes under MHFW held

Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare Jagat Prakash Nadda today inaugurated a one day workshop on 'Dissemination of Information on Programmes and Schemes run by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India' at City Convention Centre, Palace Gate, Imphal.
The inaugural session was also attended by Minister D Korungthang, Health and Family Welfare, Government of Manipur, Manoj Jhalani, Joint Secretary, Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India and Sudhir Kumar, Joint Secretary, Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India and PK Singh, Commissioner, Heath and Family Welfare, Government of Manipur.
Organized by the State Health Society, National Health Mission, Manipur, the workshop was also attended by local elected representatives including Zilla Parishad Members, Panchayat Members and other stakeholders.
Addressing at the inaugural session, Union Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda stated that such orientation programme for all the stakeholders and public representatives is necessary so that awareness of health schemes and various programmes instituted by the Government of India can be brought about.
The Governemnt of India is supporting Manipur in order to improve the health sector in the last three years by providing infrastructure, human resources, equipment and others requirements.
The Centre is willing to continue extending support.
"Money is not an issue but the question is how the delivery system is going on", he said.
The workshop will provide better understanding of health initiatives and other related schemes undertaken by the Government of India, he said.
"The Government of India has a soft corner for the hilly regions of the country which comprise all of the North East States.
Initiating work of most of the programmes, schemes, policies are done by the elected representatives and it is necessary for the public representatives to be equipped with all the information.
Health should be an agenda for election irrespective of political parties.
Politicians have to play a pivotal role in improving health sector in all parts of the country," Jagat said.
Further, he said that the National Resource Centre for North East States set up at Guwahati will assist the NE States in improving the health scenario by providing technical assistance in planning, implementation and monitoring of health programmes.
The Union Minister also announced that there will be 20 bedded neo-natal intensive care unit at JNIMS and a tertiary cancer unit will be also established.
The total number of beds in the all departments of JNIMS will be increased, he added.
Jagat Prakash Nadda said that the public representatives should be the ambassador to bring changes in health sector and they should let everyone know all the facilities provided by the Government of India.
Meanwhile D Korungthang highlighted the achievements made by the State Government in the field of health sector.
He also mentioned the recent world record made by the State in providing the maximum number of hearing aids to 3911 patients in eight hours.
Despite all the constraints and difficulties, the State Government has been working to give the best medical care facilities to the people.
The State has the lowest infant mortality rate and lowest maternal mortality rate in the country.
The State also has doctors and hospitals available in the State are proportional to population and patient ratio, he added.
Technical session on communicable diseases (National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme, Revised National Tuberculosis Control Program, National Leprosy Eradication Programme, Integrated disease surveillance program) was also held.
On non communicable diseases, experts presented papers on National Mental Health Programme, National Programme for Prevention and Control of Cancer, Diabetes, Cardiovascular diseases and Stroke and other programmes.
