Imphal, November 11 2016:
The NSCN (IM) celebrated the 87th birth anniversary of Late Isak Chishi Swu, former chairman (Yaruiwo) of the outfit, with pomp and gaiety at Hebron on November 11 under the theme "Forgiveness, Love & Peace" .
In a statement, the outfit said that peace is the need of the hour, but it is somehow elusive because there is lack of forgiveness and love among the Naga people.
It is to address this that late Isak Chisi Swu always pleaded for peace and forgiveness among the Naga people, it added.
Addressing the gathering, Kilo Kilonser Rh Raising stated, "Birthday celebration is only feasting if one does not bring a message for the people.
The song 'Man will live forever because of Christmas day' has a strong and far reaching message that touches the heart of every listener.
Likewise Isak Chisi Swu came with the message of forgiveness, love and peace" .
Giving a brief speech, better half of the late Isak Swu, Eustar Chishi Swu, steering executive member, expressed her profound gratitude to the CNC and the NSCN for shouldering the responsibility of organizing the program.
She said that if the Nagas overlook the path of the Lord, they will perish.
Rev Puni Mao, member, collective leadership said that "Forgiveness is an equipment every Naga must possess.
If the Nagas practice forgiveness, we will have peace and when we have peace we have everything" .
Main events of the celebration saw special numbers, poems and distribution of Plaque of Appreciation & Memento by Eustar Chishi Swu.
Many tribal Hohos, civil societies, student leaders, Church leaders, well wishers, family members, NSCN members and people from neighbouring villages attended the celebration, added the statement.
