Thoubal, November 11 2016:
The United Council of Sora (UCS) stands firm with their demand "No Sports University at Yaithibi Loukon'.
Their decision to protest the establishment of a national sports university at Yaithibi Loukon is driven by the idea that many agricultural lands would be sacrificed in the construction of the university.
Many other organisations, on the other hand, United Organisations, Kakching to name one, has said that the National Sports University at Yaithibi Loukon will be the greatest gift of the Government to its people.
The United Organisations, Kakching has also appealed to authorities concerned to begin the construction of the university at the Yaithibi Loukon at the earliest.
The UCS, in a statement issued by its president Bashir Ahmed said, the people was quiet on the matter as the State Government had said that the site was fixed by the Centre and they had no power to challenge Centre's order.
Now that the Union Minister Vijay Goel had advised shifting of the university site from Yaithibi Loukon, the State Government should look for a more suitable site, it said.
The UCS has further appealed to all the organisations, groups, who are demanding the construction of the university at Yaithibi Loukon to understand the circumstances on which Sora locals are protesting the construction of the varsity.
