Patients suffer as pharmacies shut down

Imphal, November 11 2016:
Many customers including patients were left disappointment when numerous pharmacies downed their shutters due to lack of lower denomination notes today.
One 77-year old heart patient Laimayum Nibaran chandra of Yaiskul Hiruhanba Leikai went to purchase his medicine but was dismayed to find most of the pharmacies closed.
He said that sudden announcement of demonetising Rs 500 and Rs 1000 has created great difficulty for the people.
"I went to Khwairamband Keithel and other market areas.
None of the pharmacies were opened.
I have to keep taking my medicine everyday.
Fortunately, I found one medicine store open," he said.
Further, he said that the authority concerned should take up necessary steps to ease the hardships of the people.
Apart from few pharma cies located near JNIMS, RIMS and private hospitals, pharmacies in and around Imphal areas were found till the time of filing this report.
