One-day training

ICAR�RC for NEH Region, Manipur Centre in collaboration with KVK-Chandel, conducted a one-day training cum input injection programme on promotion of improved technologies of pulses production at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Chandel, a statement informed.
The training was attended by Dr SV Ngachan, Director, ICAR RC for NEH Region, Umiam, Meghalaya; Dr N Prakash, Joint Director, ICAR-Manipur Centre; Dr Anup Das, Nodal Officer (Pulses), ICAR RC for NEH Region, Umiam.
Dr SV Ngachan in his speech during the training, encouraged farmers to grow pulses to increase fertility of the soil and to generate incomes to meet their household maintenance.
Delivering the keynote address, Dr MA Ansari, Scientist (Agronomy), ICAR � Manipur Centre, said the area covered by pulse cultivation for demonstration purpose is 300 hectares in five district of Manipur namely Chandel, Churachandpur, Tamenglong, Imphal West and Ukhrul.
The training was led by Ts Leenda Monsang, ACTO (Plant Breeding), KVK-Chandel and resource persons were Dr MA Ansari, Scientist (Agronomy); Dr SK Sharma, Scientist (Plant Pathology) of ICAR, Manipur Centre; Dr Y Ramakrisna, Programme Coordinator, KVK-Ukhrul and GP Kabui, Programme Coordinator i/c, KVK-Chandel.
Pea, lentil, broad bean, rhizobium, PSB, KSB, zinc bio-fertilizer and nitro fix were distributed to the farmers.
Altogether, 50 farmers from Chandel, Machi and Tengnoupal Blocks of Chandel district attended the training, the statement informed.
