KCC volunteers to cater to various IQCs in Kpi

As part of continuing its charitable work, the Kangpokpi Christian Church volunteered to cater to the various Institutional Quarantine Centres within Kangpokpi DHQs and its surrounding for a period of one month.
The decision to volunteer in food preparation and delivering it to the IQCs was taken by the Church following the appeal of District Administration as directed by Social Welfare and Cooperation Minister Nemcha Kipgen to centralize the food provision for all IQCs.
Taking on the responsibility, the Church women society (KCN), youth wing (KCK) and men society (KCU) members volunteered in cooking, packaging and delivering of the food since Jun 2, to nine IQCs including BJP Office, JNV Boys Hostel, Girls Hostel, classroom, SFS Daili, MTC, MBC Hr Sec School, Kangpokpi Government High School, Yaikongpao UJB School and Tumnoupokpi Jr High School comprising of more than 400 inmates.
Pastor J Lunkim, KCC who is also the advisor of Kangpokpi Town Churches Fellowship said that after a threadbare discussion in a meeting of the town churches fellowship and considering the appeal of SDO Kangpokpi, KCC has decided to take on the task and considering it as part of its contribution towards the God's kingdom and in the larger interest of the quarantine inmates.
Upa Khupneh Chongloi and Kakai Hangshing have been entrusted to look after the catering under the supervision of Pastor J Lunkim.
According to Kakai Hangshing, cooking of food was taken care of by the women society (KCN) and curry preparation by the men society (KCU) while packaging and delivery responsibility was assigned to the youth (KCK) .
He also said that in the morning, food is delivered from the Church before 10 am and in the afternoon before 5 pm while adding that the schedule or timing of delivery can be adjustable.
The suply of food and curry stuffs is provided by the District Administration although the Church is trying to include food variety to the meal, he added.
On being inquired, Pastor J Lunkim said that in case the catering extend beyond a month, any willing Church can also take the responsibility but if there is none, then decision to continue or discontinue will have to be made.
It may also be mentioned that more than hundred inmates at BJP office and JNV were discharged this afternoon after the sample test comes out negative.
However, around 43 stranded people returning in a special train via Jiribam will reach the District Headquarters late in the evening.
