Letpao flags off buses to bring back stranded people

Water Resources and YAS Minister Letpao Haokip said that the present Government has been making regular modification in SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) of COVID-19 after thorough discussion and consideration for the welfare of the people of the State as per the changing scenario.
He was speaking at his residence at Koirengei while flagging off two buses to bring back stranded persons of 41-Chandel AC from Shillong (Meghalaya) and Guwahati (Assam) .
The two buses will bring back 38 stranded people from Shillong and 11 from Guwahati.
It may be mentioned that Letpao, who is also the local MLA of 41-Chandel AC, had evacuated more than 50 people from Guwahati in early May.
Speaking to media persons, Letpao said that the Government is facing criticism from various quarters regarding the frequent changes in the SOP.
The changes, however, have been made by the Government after consultation with experts for better containment of the pandemic and provide ease to the pain of the public due to lockdown, he said.
The Government is implementing SOPs that will be more convenient in tackling COVID-19 from time to time, and it may change in future too depending on the situation.
The Government is committed to containing the virus, he added.
On the evacuation mission, he said the stranded people upon reaching the State will undergo quarantine at JNV Chandel.
They will be tested for the virus, he said appealing the community and, villagers to welcome them and extend cooperation.
