VC calls for students' engagement in social service

Manipur University Vice Chancellor Professor Naorem Lokendra has urged the student community to harness emotional quotient through social service.
He was speaking as the chief guest in the valedictory function of the Seven Days NSS Special Camp organized by the Manipur University NSS Unit at the varsity's Zoology Department today.
Saying that emotional quotient has become the most important aptitude that a student must acquire during the students' life, the VC exuded confidence that engaging in the global, National and environmental issues would make students earn their social emotional skills.
"One must set aside ego and learn to mingle up with the people and participate in social activities and service for the prosperity of the society", he said, adding that students' power is very powerful and many students' movements had brought great changes in several parts of the world in the past.
He also said that students must build knowledge and personalities through reading and social interaction.
Highlighting that the framework of the National Education Policy, 2020 emphasizes on overall personality development, Lokendra opined that the National Social Service is most likely to be included as a paper in university curriculum.
The function was also attended by NSS Cell Manipur University Coordinator Dr Maibam Nodiachand, SEVA Club, Thongju secretary Nameirakpam Chingkhei and KYP Club, Kyamgei vice president Dhamendra Nepram as the president and guests of honour.
Distribution of appreciation certificates to the students who participated in the Special camp which began from November 12 was the main event of the valedictory function.
