Ukhrul, November 18 2021:
Denouncing the delay in release of the BADP fund for the year 2019-20, Border Area Villages Association (BAVA) of Ukhrul district has alleged Deputy CM Joykumar of impeding in the process.
In a release, AS Augustine president BAVA alleged that the incumbent Dy CM who is also the Minister of Finance has withheld the BADP fund for 2019-20.He mentioned that work orders were issued during July and most of the construction work were almost complete, however the lackadaisical and indifferent attitude had burdened the association severely.
As per a report, the fund about Rs 2.73 crore was sanctioned for Ukhrul under BADP 2019-20 programme by the Central Government for development of border villages.
The centrally sponsored project includes road & bridges development, health infrastructure, education infrastructure, agriculture infrastructure, sport infrastructure, drinking water projects, social sectors, etc.
The BAVA president continued that no funds would be allocated for the fiscal year 2020-21 from MHA as the contractors are unable to submit their utilization certificate to the concerned department.
In this regard, BAVA had also submitted a representation to the Chief Minister in October for immediate intervention, he added.
BAVA further appealed to the State Government to release the funds within seven days, failing which the association would be compelled to initiate democratic forms of agitation.
