Tamenglong, February 23 2015:
Zeliangrong Baudi (Assam, Manipur and Nagaland) in a statement issued by its information and publicity secretary has alleged that various funds sanctioned particularly under PMGSY for the construction of road in the district have not been properly utilized mainly due to some contractors who are bidding tender below the sanctioned amount (minus category) for a particular project.
Owing to the hilly terrain of the district, implementation of road construction work and other developmental projects with the full sanctioned amount have not been able to meet the required standard.
Under such circumstances, undertaking the road construction work with 30%-50% below the official sanctioned amount indicates that the intention of the contractors is to exhaust the fund through fraudulent means, the statement said.
Zeliangrong Baudi (AMN) urged the State Government not to accept contractors who bade their tender for the project below the sanctioned amount under PMGSY phase-X.The statement also demanded to increase the scheduled amount in order to maintain the work quality.
The statement further urged the contractors to implement the developmental projects sincerely and added that ZB (AMN) would continue to closely monitor the work in the district and in other Zeliangrong inhabited areas.
