Imphal, February 23 2015:
The severely maimed body of one Laxman Thakur, a resident of Nagamapal IW was recovered today around 3 am on a roadside at Pearsonmun village, where the vehicle he was reportedly travelling broke down last night, reports our correspondent.
According to sources, Laxman, a ration supplier for security forces posted in the interior area was travelling on a pick-up vehicle along with his companions when the vehicle broke down in the village.
His friends reportedly told police who are investigating the case that Laxman left them sometime after the vehicle broke down and was recovered only early in the morning in a badly mutilated state.
Sources in the village said the body with all the abdominal parts strewn apart looked like a vehicle had run over him but added that it was a puzzling case as it reportedly occurred in the death of the night.
The body has been handed over to the family later today.
