Imphal, February 23 2015:
The Minority Students' Association, Manipur has condemned the decision to debar Lilong Haoreibi College centre from future CoHSEM examinations for five years, claiming that it is the only centre in Manipur with predominance of Muslim candidates, and demanded that CoHSEM come out with the true story of what happened at the centre on Saturday last.
Talking to mediapersons at Manipur Press Club on Monday, president of MSAM, Hassan, asserted that the move to debar the centre is an attempt to suppress the Muslim community.
Hassan accused chairman of CoHSEM, Arthur, of terrorizing students inside the examination hall, making unnecessary interruptions and wasting valuable time in the middle of the examination.
The chairman picked on students who were dressed in religious attires and tried to run over people with his vehicle when they demanded proofs for expelling the students, he alleged.
He asserted that the size of the 34-member flying squad team accompanied by high ranked officials who landed at the centre was unprecedented at any centre and was a deliberate ploy to intimidate the candidates.
He further condemned the one-sided statement of Joint Students Coordinating Committee and appealed to the URF which also issued their opinion on the incident to initiate a probe so as to verify the claims.
