CBI registers disproportionate assets case against Customs Inspector

Imphal, December 04 2021: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case against Inspector Seikholen Kipgen of Customs Preven-tive Force Moreh on the allegations of possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

Reportedly, Seikholen Kipgen joined the service in June 2009 as Tax Assistant and was promoted to the rank of Inspector in 2015 .

The CBI alleged that Seikholen Kipgen had acquir- ed huge assets amounting to Rs 2,40,34,348 from January 2015 to October 2021 .

He purchased one homestead land with RCC ground floor at Kangpokpi and constructed 1st and 2nd floors thereon.

He further purchased another homestead land at K Vengnom Khabam near IGAR South in 2018 in his wife's name and four vehicles including Hyundai Creta and Mahindra Bolero.

It further alleged that prior to January 2015, Seikholen Kipgen didn't possess any immovable assets and had Rs 13,818 in his bank account.

It is also alleged that the income of Seikholen Kipgen from all known sources including his monthly salaries during the period from January 2015 to October 2021 is Rs 52,09,096 while that of expenditure both verifiable and non-verifiable including kitchen comes to the tune of Rs 17,59,932 (approx) .

The FIR mentioned that computation of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income is Rs 2,25,71,3661approxinately.It is also alleged that the extent of disproportionate assets will substantially increase during investigation of the case after taking into account the expenditure towards education of his three children (one son & two daughters), purchase value of the homestead lands, household items and other immovable properties in his name and in the name of his family members or in benami.
