Chawangkining people donate fresh vegetables for IQC

The people of Chawangkining village under the aegis of Chawangkining Village Authority and Chawangkining Village Relief Committee donated huge quantity of fresh wild vegetables for the third time to SDO Kangpokpi for the Institutional Quarantine Centre within Kangpokpi DHQs today.
A few days back, the Chawangkining Village Authority and the Relief Committee had also donated fresh vegetables at the Institutional Quarantine Centre at Toribari and BJP office where more than 200 returnees are accommodated, following the request of the concerned SDO Chunglenmang Kipgen, MCS who looked after the Institutional Quarantine Centre.
Chawangkining Village Authority Chairman, Wisobou Charenamai said that they were once again requested by the SDO for donating fresh vegetables for the Institutional Quarantine Centre and thereafter initiated hunt for fresh wild vegetables in the jungle with the participation of the villagers.
He continued that the variety vegetables donated today included laphu, laphu tharo, kongprek, usingsa, kobi masoi, hangam, pollei (loklei), chom maton, asinba mana, yenbum, jungle muthrubi, mola maton, phadigom, maroi napakpi and morok mana manbi.
The village Chairman maintained that the returnees after enduring various hardships are mandatorily put under surveillance at various Institutional Quarantine Centre for the safety of themselves and the society, adding that the District Administration is making maximum efforts for their food and shelter and considered the request of the concerned SDO to providing fresh vegetables as their responsibility.
He expressed gratitude to the District Administration for taking care of the inmates at the IQC despite the challenges.
The village Chairman also appealed all the returnees in the various IQCs of the District to be strong and co-operate with the District Administration and Health Department.
The handing over of the fresh vegetables was also joined by Chawangkining Village Relief Committee Convenor Adam Gonmei, Co-Convenor Wichamdinbou Charenamai, local Pastor and the village youths.
