Imphal, August 01:
Highlighting plight of the passengers and vehicle operators along the Imphal-Moreh route, JAC Imphal-Moreh Road Transporters, Kanglapat Road has accused IRB personnel deployed in between Canchipur and Imphal of excessive frisking and harassment of both passengers and operators.
A JAC statement issued today by its general secretary insisted that the IRB teams deployed in the specific area for the purpose of maintaining law and order had been indulging in prolong stoppage of vehicles arriving from Moreh side and under the pretext of checking whether illegal items are being stacked inside the vehicles frequently abuse travellers and vehicle operators alike.
Expressing in an emotional tone, the secretary said travellers eager to reach their respective home have to endure the vigilant uniformed personnel inspite of the fact that these vehicles had passed through intense checking at over 10 security check points from Moreh till Pallel.
Question rationale of these IRB personnel indulging in checking of passenger and goods carriers, the JAC statement desired that checking parameters established in between pallel to Moreh be strengthened if needed rather than inconvenience the passengers till their doorsteps.
The secretary also expressed that in case the transporters' fervent plea do not evoke positive response from the Government at the earliest the JAC might have to opt for cessation of service.
