Imphal, August 01: Reacting to the reported statement of the SP Imphal West that two persons slain by a combined force of Imphal West commandos and troops of 12 Maratha Light Infantry at Laphupat Tera on July 30 were cadres of PREPAK (VC) involved in kidnapping children, the proscribed PREPAK has dismissed the statement as baseless.

A statement issued by the outfit's secretary in charge of the department of publicity and propaganda Aheiba Angom contended that Salam Budha alias USA Singh (29) s/o late Thambalngou of Nongmaikhong Mayai Leikai and Longjam Robindro alias Keke alias Boris Singh (20) s/o Ibomcha of Kyamgei Awang Leikai were not killed in encounter but were done to death by the combined after taking them into their custody.

The outfit while offering revolutionary salute to Sgt Maj USA and pvt Longjam Boris, also shared the pain and grief being endured by the bereaved families.

The outfit also refuted the police claim that photographs of two kidnapped children were recovered from the possession of the slain duo.

The photograph was of Sgt Maj USA's three year old daughter.

It further decried the SP repeatedly using the word "PREPAK (VC)" saying that it was aimed at presenting the PREPAK as afflicted by factionalism.

SP Radheshyam being unaware of the alleged fact that there is no such group as VC in PREPAK which is known to all the people is ridiculous, remarked Aheiba Angom.

Taking strong exception to the alleged killing of UG cadres in cold blood by police commandos, the outfit cautioned that its patience may run out in case the commandos with their activities.

Under such circumstances, there is no guarantee that the outfit may not leave aside the idea of kinship with the commando personnel and start attacking them.
