With a rich haul of 12 gold, three silver and four bronze medals Manipur claimed the overall championship title of the 8th National Muaythai Championship held at New Delhi from July 26 till 28, informed Manipur Amateur Muay-thai Council today.
The championship organised by Muaythai Association of Delhi under the aegis of Muaythai Federation of India was participated by 500 players and officials from 28 States.
Manipur's W Riyona Chanu, who also won the gold in the sub-junior girls' 35 kg class, was adjudged 'best female fighter of the year'.
Other gold medal winners are Ng Rahul (SJB 30 kg), G Nanao Kabui (SJB 35 kg), G Marempu Kabui (SJB 40), S Johnson Singh (Jr Male 60 kg), S German Singh (Jr Male 65.5 kg), I Chakhangamba (Jr Male 71 kg), L Suraj Singh (Sr Male 60 kg), Jayaluxmi Yumnam (Waikhru), L Suchitra Chanu (waikhru), Chingshanglakpa K (waikru) and A Tondonba (waikhru).
Silver medallists include L Bidyachandra (SJB 30 kg), M Amarjit Singh Jr Male 54 kg) and W Bachu Chanu (SJG 35 kg) as H Chitarajan (SJ Male 40 kg), G Pouthailung Kabui (Jr Male 45 kg), Jayaluxmi Yumnam (JG 48 kg) and L Suchitra (JG 48 kg) secured bronze medals.
L Thoiba Singh, Kh Dingku and N mahendra accompanied the team as officials.
