Imphal, January 27 2017: Contending that the ongoing economic blockade imposed by United Naga Council (UNC) since October 31 midnight is the fallout of bad governance of the Congress, spokesperson of BJP State unit N Biren asserted that the public would be freed from sufferings and there would be peaceful co-existence amongst the different communities if BJP forms the next Government.

Addressing newspersons at the conference hall of BJP State unit at Nityaipat Chuthek here today, N Biren who will be contesting in the ensuing 11th State Legislative Assembly election from Heingang Assembly Constituency on BJP ticket said that if the people vote BJP to power by keeping faith in the party in the coming election then the rampant grievances and sufferings encountered by the people during the regime of the Congress Government would fade.

He said that there had been unrest and animosity amongst the different communities under the Congress Government despite ruling the State for almost 60-70 years.

The present turmoil witnessed in the State is due to the obscure policies adopted by the Government, he alleged.

He reiterated that BJP cannot be blamed by the Government for the sorry state of affairs in the State.

Pointing out the big mistakes committed by the Congress, Biren alleged that the then Chief Minister Rishang Keishing misled the people by gaining political mileage out of the issue of Naga integration in 1972 .

On August 4, 1972, United Naga Integration Council (UNIC) was allowed to merge with Indian National Congress (INC) just for political gains.

Following the merger, there has been unbearable demands put up before the Government.

Since it was the Congress party that has done the damage, they ought to resolve all the outstanding issues arise thereof, he mentioned.

Accusing Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam of giving consent to the proposed formation of Greater Nagaland by appending his signature in Delhi, Biren asked the Deputy CM to stop talking about Nagaland instead of his homeland.

He went on to declare that the wrongdoings committed by the Congress will be made public soon.

He alo assured that justice in the killing of Sanjit and Rabina in an alleged fake encounter at BT Road will be delivered.

Claiming that a sum of Rs 100 crore was sanctioned for construction of Khuman Lampak Sports Complex, he said that Rs 75 crore of the total amount was already withdrawn but there has been no adequate infrastructure at the complex.

BJP will not remain as mute spectator to the disturbing development, he vowed.

Biren also questioned the Government's commitment on restoring Imphal-Jiribam road, saying crores of rupees had been incurred in the restoration of the road which has been lying in a deplorable condition for the last many years.

General secretary of BJP State unit, N Nimbus; BJP candidates from Thanga Assembly Constituency M Asnikumar and Keishamthong Assembly Constituency RK Shivachandra were also present at the press meet.
