4th wave claims 5th victim, newly infects 90

The fourth wave of Covid-19 pandemic claimed its 5th victim in the state on Sunday taking the cumulative death toll to 2125 as government bulletins reported 90 new positive cases from 11 districts out of 648 samples tested in the last 24 hours, and test positivity rate of 13.89 per cent.
The 90 fresh cases (79 male & 11 female) are residents of Imphal West (29), Imphal East (32), Churachandpur (8), Bishnupur (7), Thoubal (4), Chandel (2), Jiribam (2), Senapati (2), Ukhrul (2), Kakching (2) and Kangpokpi (1) districts.
The death case reported on Sunday was a resident of Imphal East district, who had received second dose of Covid vaccine.
She also had co-morbidities.
Sunday also reported 45 recoveries from home isolation (33) Shija Hospital (5), RIMS (4), JNIMS (2) and Tamenglong District Hospital (1) while the number of active cases rose to 640, out of which 434 (67.81 per cent) are in home isolation.
Till date, the pandemic has claimed 2125 lives including seven CAPF personnel and infected 1,38,558 individuals including 5,014 CAPF personnel.
The virus has claimed lives of 197 vaccinated people, out of which 63 had received second doses of Covid vaccines.
There are 12 vacant beds available in JNIMS and 18 in RIMS.
So far, the state has recorded 1313 positive cases and five deaths since the beginning of the fourth wave of the pandemic.
The current month has reported 1288 new positive case and five death cases.
The cumulative positivity rate for the current month rose to 10.78 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, 87 D-type and 19 B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities and 2,443 vaccine doses administered on Saturday which took the cumulative number of vaccinated population to 16,08,401, including 12,80,044 who had received the second dose and 1,76,449 jabbed with precautionary doses.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (49360), Imphal East (30801), Thoubal (10228), Churachandpur (11120), Kangpokpi (3156), Tamenglong (3487), Bishnupur (9898), Senapati (2507), Ukhrul (3311), Kakching (6933), Chandel (2751), Noney (1169), Tengnoupal (1206), Jiribam (1116), Kamjong (1047), and Pherzawl (468) .
Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (705), Imphal East (512), Thoubal (190), Churachandpur (168), Kangpokpi (67), Tamenglong (17), Bishnupur (205), Senapati (12), Ukhrul (51), Kakching (124), Chandel (42), Noney (5), Tengnoupal (15), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (5) and Pherzawl (0) .
Data analysed by this daily
shows that the rate of infection remains 44,653 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 31,174 CPM.
Test
rate has improved to 5,24,214 tests per million population against the national average of 6,19,747 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.53 per cent and the recovery came down to 98 per cent.
The cumulative positivity rate stands at 8.52 per cent.
