Imphal, July 24 2022:
While setting July
28 deadline for the state
government to release the
relief amount for the 2017
flood victims of Lilong assembly constituency, which
has been kept pending for
the last five years, JAC Lilong Kendra Development
Coordinating Committee
has warned of launching
agitation in case of failing
to release the relief amount
within the given deadline.
Addressing a press meet
at Manipur Press Club here
on Sunday, JAC co-convenor BM Taj Khan said that
families in Lilong AC who
were affected by the July
2, 2017 flood have not received a single rupee of the
relief assistance.
During
the assembly session held
in August 2021, chief minister N Biren, in response
to a question from Wabagai
MLA, assured of releasing
the pending amount.
In contrast, DC Thoubal
contended that there is no
pending relief fund for fishery, veterinary & animal
husbandry and house damage, except for agriculture
for the 2017 flood, Taj Khan
recounted.
Expressing surprise over
the statement of the DC,
the co-convenor asked if
the government had misappropriated the relief fund
in collusion with some
individuals since none of
the flood affected victims
have got any relief fund till
date.
He then demanded
the relevant departments
to produce their respective
white papers by July 28 .
