Saubhagya Scheme Launched In Manipur ; Power sector improved a lot in the state: CM

Chief Minister N.Biren Singh said that under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the 'Saubhagya Scheme' would transform the lives, especially poorest of the poor by providing power supply to every household of the country.
This was stated by him at the launching function of Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana (Saubhagya Scheme) in Manipur held at Hotel Classic Grande, Imphal today.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister mentioned that the power supply has improved to a large extent especially after corporatisation of the erstwhile Electricity Department into Transmission Company and Distribution Company.
He said that Saubhagya scheme would provide power supply to the remaining un-electrified household to achieve universal household electrification in the country.

Stating that majority of the eligible household are in the hill districts of the State, Chief Minister said that around 1.07 lakhs household is yet to be electrified under this scheme, he added.
Chief Minister said that the government would get power connection to the remaining household at free of cost.
Such scheme would transform the lives of the people of the country, he added.
Chief Minister said that the State Government has electrified 972 Census villages under various plans of Deendayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana) and 1,442 census villages under State plan.
Under the National Solar Mission, Manipur has been allocated an installation target of 105 MV solar power by the year 2022, he added.
Stating that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a legendary leader, Chief Minister said that the initiatives and schemes undertaken under his leadership to uplift the deprived and downtrodden people of the country is purely done on 'human service' to bring smiles on every face of this country.
We feel proud when we see people happy, he added.
He said that the government is committed to work for the welfare of the people.
Minister for Power, Commerce and Industries, IPR Shri Th.Biswajit Singh said that the Government has successfully electrified 90 percent household in urban areas and 60 percent in rural areas of the State.
The unelectrified 1.76 lakhs household would get power connection under the Saubhagya scheme, he added.
The State Government has already started free electricity connections to some districts of the State.
And under the supervision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, all the villages of the country would be electrified by 2019, he added.
On the other hand, the State Government has got the target to provide electricity to every household of the State by December, 2018 .
He stated that we should be grateful to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for giving benefits and welfare to the needy and poor people of the country.
He announced that the Ministry of Power, Government of India has already agreed to provide financial support to fulfil the dreams of the needy people to get power supply in their homes.
He assured that the government would achieve the task to provide electricity to every household in the State on time.
He appealed the officials of MSPDCL, MANIREDA to work hard to fulfil the aspirations of the Prime Minister to provide power supply to households of the country.
During the function, the dignitaries made interactions with the beneficiaries of the four districts i.e.Senapati, Churachandpur, Noney and Chandel districts through live video conferencing.
On the occasion, a Memorandum of Agreement was signed between Rural Electrification Corporation Limited(REC) and Ukhrul District Community Resource Management Society(UDCRMS), a district unit of NorthEastern Region Community Resource Management Society(NERCRMS) for the construction of Multipurpose Hall cum indoor Stadium in Somdal Village, Urkhul district.
Union Minister of State(I/C) for Power and New & Renewable Energy R.K.Singh, Executive Director of REC, Shakil P Ahmed, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Power, Government of India, A.K Verma and officials of MSPDCL attended the function.
