Meet bats for visa free regime

The two-day Inter-Regional Media Interaction Programme Between Myanmar and India which started yesterday at Hotel Imphal concluded today with a recommendation to introduce a visa free regime between the two neighbouring countries.
The interaction programme was jointly organised by the Department of Information and Public Relations and the State Level Committee for Act East Policy and it agreed on fostering better understanding and closer bilateral relationship between India and Myanmar.
Apart from strengthening friendship between the two countries, the media interaction programme further agreed to support the Government of India's Act East Policy.
Holding media exchange programme regularly was another recommendation adopted at the end of the programme.
It also recommended installation and improvement of road, railway, air and water connectivity between the two countries.
Facilitating free flow of news and development of a tourist circuit between India and Myanmar by developing necessary land, air and sea routes were some other recommendations adopted today.
The media interaction programme opened by Chief Minister N Biren was attended by 11 journalists from Myanmar, representatives of the Press Council of India, the Indian Journalists Union, Editors' Guild of India and many senior journalists of the State.
