Training programme concludes

A valedictory function of the 'Seven-days classical silai school training', under Usha Silai School Programme' organised by the People's Development Society (PDS), New Checkon, was held at PDS Training Hall, New Checkon, North of New Checkon Primary School, Imphal East today.
The function was attended by Speaker, Manipur Legislative Assembly, Yumnam Khemchand, Deputy Manager, Usha International Ltd., Chandmari, Guwahati, Manoj Kumar Sharma, Chairman, Manipur Industries Development Council, P Loken and Senior Manager (Pig & Dev), MRB HO, K Sunder Singh and CEO, PDS, Imphal, Th Birmangol Singh as dignitaries.
In his speech as the chief guest, Y Khemchand said that the training programme is a great step towards self employment as most of the clothes worn by women are stitched by sewing machines nowadays.
Reports suggesting that Manipur has the highest number of sewing machines in the North East, organising tailoring groups is a commendable move and the Govt will provide all available assistance to these SHGs.
