Imphal, August 13 2021:
Taking serious note of the 'forcible' conduct of selection test for admission into Jawahar Navodya Vidyalaya by Jawahar Navodya Vidyalaya (JNV) Samiti Manipur amidst the COVID-19 pandemic and accusing the Samiti to taking the young students as commercial commodity and putting their lives at risk, the outlawed Kangleipak Communist Party - Military Council- Progressive (KCP-MC-P) has imposed complete ban on activities of the Samiti.
While giving ten days' time to the responsible official of the Samiti to arrive at an understanding with the outfit on the matter, the outfit cautioned of taking up necessary action if the Samiti fails to comply.
According to a statement issued by outfit's information & publicity secretary Maheikhomba Meitei, conduct of the selection test by Jawahar Navodya Vidyalaya Samiti Manipur forcibly amidst COVID-19 and putting lives of thousands of young students into the mouth of the virus indeed was akin to attempt to murder.
In view of the present COVID-19 pandemic situation, student organisations of the state had urged the Samiti to postpone the selection test but it defied the genuine appeal and decided to conduct the test on August 11.With the backing of state's home department, the Samiti led by commissioner stood against the students and forcibly conducted the selection test.
However, time has come to decide how far the Samiti would stand against the people.
There has been report of a student testing positive for COVID-19 while returning home after giving the selection test and could not ascertain fate of 20,000 students who appeared the selection test.
These students and their parents who were in the test venues could become super spreader of the virus and several parents have lodged complaint to the outfit to take action against the Samiti, the statement said.
In fact, the Samiti tried to kill young students rather than conducting the selection test and it would be not wrong to say that the Samiti wanted to convert the state into a battle field for the third wave of COVID-19 pandemic, the outfit said, adding that state home department should clarify as to why approval for conducting the selection test was given amidst the pandemic.
