BRO, Nillakuthi beat host NSU, Awang Potshangbam Khullen in tie break to win the champion's title of the 2nd State Level Men's Open Football Tournament, 2010 as the tournament concluded today at Awang Potsangbam Khullen.
Northern Sporting Union (NSU), Awang Potsangbam Khullen organised the tournament which was commenced from March 18 last.
Altogether 11 teams participated in the tournament for the champion's title.
MLA, W Brajabidhu graced the closing function as chief guest.
Ph Priyokumar, Member, Potsangbam Zilla Parishad and Kh Loyalakpa, President, AIM, Khabam Lamkhai also attended the function.
The final match was played between BRO, Nillakuthi and host NSU, Awang Potsangbam.
Both teams displayed a real tough fight against one another throughout the match.
The match concluded in a tie with scores 1-1 .
The solitary goal of NSU was scored by Santa in the 2nd minute while Bungo scored the solitary goal of BRO in the 27th minute of the match.
In the tie break, BRO scored five goals while NSU scored only four goals and the match conlcuded with BRO as winner of the tournament.
Winner BRO was awarded a cash prize of Rs 40,000 along with the trophy.
Runners Up, NSU was awarded Rs 20,000 cash award along with the trophy.
Brighter Club of Awang Potsangbam was awarded the title of best discipline team which carries a cash prize of Rs 10,000 .
Herojit of TRAU was declared Top Scorer.
Akumao of NSU-B was adjusted the title of Best Player.
Lokeshwor of NSU-B was adjusted the title of Best Goalkeeper.
Naoba of NSU-B was awarded Best Defender's title.
All of them were awarded a cash prize of Rs 500 along with memento.
YWC, Ningtomthongjao was declared best organised team.
Team manager Seityabanta was honoured with a memento.
