Imphal, April 19 2010:
Subsequent upon the census exercise launched at the National level from April 1, house listing work of Manipur would be done between June 1 and July 15 .
In this regard, the Chief Secretary presided an official meeting today to ensure stringent execution of the house listing work.
The meeting attended by the DGP, Census Director and DCs deliberated on the census data collection exercise.
A presentation on the preparations made for the census exercise was tabled by the Census Operations during the meeting.
The meeting also discussed the controversies regarding district boundaries between Imphal West and Senapati, Tamenglong and Jiribam and Thoubal and Chandel.
The Census Dept and the Revenue Dept have been entrusted to settle these issues jointly.
The Chief Secretary also asked the Home Dept to provide adequate security.
To conduct the census exercise strictly according to guidelines, enumerators would be given training with special emphasis on specific areas.
All the data collected from the census exercise would be computerised and a software would be used to identify duplicates.
Head-count of the decadal census exercise would begin from February 11, next year.
