State Weightlifting Championships : NSA, PDA emerge overall men's and women's champions

Imphal, October 08 2023: National Sports Academy (NSA), Khuman Lampak and Progressive Development Association (PDA), Maklang emerge overall men's and women's champions at the 23rd Sub-Junior (youth), 24th Junior and 25th Senior Men's and women's Weightlifting Championships 2023 held at SAI-Takyelpat weightlifting hall since October 6 .

N Tomchou of NSA was adjudged men's best lifter with a total lift of 223 kg as Ph Ranibala earned the women's best lifter title with her collective 205 kg finish.

Ng Bellerina clinched the youth women's 64 kg title for NSA registering highest 70 kg in snatch and 85 kg in clean and jerk (C&J) for a total of 155 kg as L Chinglembi (56 kg in snatch and 70 kg in C&J) of TYWO and L Lanchenbi Chanu (53 kg in snatch and 70 kg in C&J) of RLLYC finished second and third.

Kh Anjali of KLYDC in the meantime sealed both the junior and senior women's 64 kg crown with a 80 kg finish in snatch and 107 kg in C&J.Shandrela Huyam of THYC (75 kg in snatch and 95 kg in C&J) and A Debaarbina of NSU (56 kg in snatch and 69 kg in C&J) secured the silver and bronze medal of the competition.

L Chinglembi of TYWO (126 kg) and Ng Binita of NSK (103 kg) sealed silver and bronze medals in the senior women's 64 kg category event.

A Mandakini was also able to win both the 71 kg youth and junior titles with a 157 kg finish (70 kg in snatch and 87 kg in C&J) .

Kh Elizah of KHYAL lifted 71 kg in snatch in the youth competition but was 2 kg behind A Mandakini in the C&J competition to settle for the silver medal.

H Olympia NSK who amassed 121 kg finished third in both youth and junior competitions.

K Yaiphabi of YCUAL who collected 148 kg finished second in the 71 kg junior women's competition.

P Umeshwori of YSWA topped the senior women's 71 kg competition registering 85 kg in snatch and 115 kg in C&J as H Thoibinao of (116 kg) and Jelina Longjam of YSWC (101 kg) finished second and third.

In the 76 kg category competitions, N Monalisha of NSK (60 kg in snatch and 75 kg in C&J), M Rama of YSWA (70 kg in snatch and 88 kg in C&J) and S Chaoba Chanu of PDA (90 kg in snatch and 110 kg in C&J) bagged the youth, junior and senior category gold medals respectively.

N Sonia of IGO (124 kg) and A Premika of PHRSC (116 kg) respectively bagged silver and bronze medals both in the youth and junior categories as A Tumina of SAI-NCOE (196 kg) bagged silver medal in the senior category competition.

W Sapana Devi of THYC fetched the senior women's 81 kg category gold with a 200 kg total finish (85 kg in snatch and 115 kg in C&J) as W Anjali of PHRSC (186 kg) and N Bidyarani of PHRSC (100 kg) settled for the silver and bronze medals.

W Nivedita of KLYDC claimed the 87 kg junior category title with a 120 kg finish (55 kg in snatch and 75 kg in C&J) while O Dhaneshwori of KLLYDC bagged the silver medal with a 70 kg total finish.

In the men's 89 kg category competitions, O Kemerun of TYWO claimed the youth category gold with a 144 kg finish (64 kg in snatch and 80 kg in C&J) as Kg Nungshiba of PDA who lifted 100 kg in snatch and 135 kg in C&J secured both the junior and senior titles.

N Robertson of IGO also won the silver medals in both the 89 kg youth and junior competitions as Kh Lanchenba (135 kg) bagged the youth category bronze.

O Kemerun also finished second in the senior men's category.

A Bikash of NCOE amassed 255 kg (110 kg in snatch and 145 kg in clean and jerk) to seal the 96 kg junior category gold medal as Poireisana of KLYC&L registered 185 kg total to earn the silver medal.

In the +109 kg category competitions, Mangal Sapam (80 kg in snatch and 95 kg in C&J) and Kh Bisonath of KYSC&L (80 kg in snatch and 92 kg in C&J) respectively bagged both the youth and junior gold medals and silver medals as Vhysakh Nambiru of NSU who amassed 185 kg (85 kg in snatch and 100 kg in clean and jerk) won the senior category gold.

Kh Bisonath of KYSC&L earned his third silver in the senior category competition.
