Imphal, December 21 2023:
In light of the recent surge in ransom and assault cases against the Naga community, the Manipur Naga Youth Organisation (MNYO) has issued a call to the Meitei and Kuki community stressing on the urgent need for peace and understanding.
A statement issued by Athot Keitang, president, MNYO urged the youth of both communities to reflect on the profound consequences of intolerance and aggression and expressed MNYO's firm belief that forging a united front against divisive forces is essential for a peaceful coexistence transcending ethnic lines.
It further emphasized the shared responsibility of all communities in safeguarding the cultural richness and diversity that forms the essence of Manipur's unique social fabric.
Asserting that "patience has its limits", MNYO has appealed to both communities to actively discourage actions that escalate tensions.
In a stern message to those responsible for acts of hatred and violence, the MNYO has implored for an immediate cessation of such actions while reasoning that these actions sow seeds of irreparable discord that can have long-lasting consequences for all communities involved.
