Centre recommends ₹346.69 cr projects for state

The Central government has recommended five projects worth Rs 346.69 crore for implementation in the state under PM-DevINE scheme, according to minister of state of Development of North Eastern Region (Do-NER) BL Verma, in a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha on Thursday.
Prime Minister's Development Initiative for North East Region (PM-DevINE) scheme aims at rapid and holistic development of the NER by funding infrastructure and social development projects based on felt needs of the states.
Out of the five projects two have been recommended for sanction and three have been recommended in-principle.
The two projects recommended for sanction are 'Development of Infrastructure of the Processing Zone of Manipur IT SEZ at Mantripukhri, Imphal' at a cost of Rs 120 crore, and 'Development of Infrastructure for Manipur Technical University (MTU), Imphal West District' at a cost of Rs 55.04 crore.
The three projects that got in-principle recommendation are 'Construction and Equipping of 60-Bed-ded State Mental Hospital in Manipur' at a cost of Rs 70.47 crore, 'Infrastructure Development for Dhanamanjuri University (DMU)' at a cost of Rs 70 crore, and 'Infrastructure Development for Manipur University of Culture (MUC)' at a cost of Rs 31.18 crore.
On the other hand, North Eastern Council (NEC) had sanctioned two road projects worth Rs 72.79 crore under North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme (NESIDS) during the current financial year (2023-24) .
The two projects are Rs 31.13 crore for 'Construction of PSC Bridge (50M Span) over Leimakhong River in front of ISTT including Approach Road to proposed PSC Bridge (length 2.4 km) and proposed Bridge to PHC Khurkhul (length 1.23 km)', and Rs 41.66 crore for 'Improvement/Upgradation of Road connecting Tadubi to Chowainamei Kunao and Maopung Dung, Senapati District in Manipur (length 10.046 km)' .
The projects which have been sanctioned in the current financial year are at preparatory stages, and the sanctioned funds for these projects will be utilised as planned.
