Imphal, December 21 2023:
Director Ng Ibotombi of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Services has refuted news report published by an Imphal-based daily on December 15 that alleged that approximately 23 employees, including the director, were absent from the office during office hours.
In a press clarification, Director Ng Ibotombi stated that since October, the department's doctors and staff had been divided into 35 Rapid Response Teams (RRT) to address the outbreak of African swine fever in seven districts of the state.
These teams have been working tirelessly in the field, day and night, adhering to the guidelines set by the central government.
Additionally, the department's secretariat office issued an order to establish control rooms in all hospitals and dispensaries under the department, with staff continuing to work on Saturdays and Sundays.
On December 15, some individuals visited the Directorate's office.
However, at the time of their arrival, a power outage prevented the recording of biometric attendance in the office.
Therefore, relying solely on a paper attendance report as proof of the absence of 23 staff members, including the director, and publishing it as a news report, is defamatory to the department.
The director emphasised that not only did the staff, including the director, report to the office, but they also diligently carried out their duties in the field.
