National Integration Tour concludes at Somsai

A flag in ceremony of the National Integration Tour to Mumbai and Pune was held at Somsai on Thursday, marking successful culmination of the 15-day long tour.
The tour team comprising 15 students belonging to Kuki, Nepali and Tangkhul communities from different schools in Kamjong district and led by Captain Aman Kumar was flagged in at Somsai by Brigadier Vaibhav Shinde, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) 10 Sector Assam Rifles.
Brigadier Vaibhav also presented the participants with mementoes and certificates is a token of remembrance and appreciation of their participation in the tour.
Speaking on the occasion, Captain Aman Kumar, who was the Officer In-Charge of the tour, highlighted that the main goal of the tour was to provide the children from remote regions of Manipur with a chance to experience the diverse culture, rich heritage, and progress of our country.
The tour also aimed to foster relationships between different communities, as the children interacted with the objective of promoting National Integration.
They were able to gain insights into the numerous opportunities available in modern-day India, he said.
The tour team's young participants were led on an exciting journey to the bustling cities of Mumbai and Pune.
During their travels, these students were granted the unique chance to explore a variety of noteworthy sites, including the prestigious Naval Dockyard, the impressive Indian Navy Ship HAMLA, the esteemed National Defence Academy, the renowned College of Military Engineering, the esteemed Army Institute of Physical Training, and the distinguished Armed Forces Medical College.
Additionally, they were given the opportunity to admire some of the country's most iconic landmarks, such as the Gateway of India, Film City, various bustling malls, and other important cultural destinations.
This enriching experience spanned a total of 15 days, providing ample time for these young participants to immerse themselves in the rich culture and history of these dynamic locations.
The students and their teachers took turns to share their memorable experiences about the tour which they considered as an eye-opener in many ways.
They also expressed their gratitude to Assam Rifles for providing them the opportunity to be part of the well organised tour which encompassed their diverse communities of Manipur and provided the children a holistic, fun filled and learning experience.
Later, the students interacted with the Sector Commander, who shared his insights on the strength the diversity holds for the Nation, advising them to promote unity wherever they go.
He also advised students to keep their inquisitive nature alive while strengthening the bond developed during this tour.
The National Integration Tour programme was conducted under the aegis of Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) as part of the initiative of integrating the local communities and Assam Rifles with the motto "Friends of North East".
It was organised under Operation Sadhbhavna from December 5 to 21 .
