Pension cards distributed to conflict survivors

Social Welfare, Fisheries and Skill Labour & Employment Minister Heikham Dingo Singh today distributed Manipur Old Age Pension Scheme (MOAPS) and Chief Minister's Widow Pension Scheme (CMWPS) cards to the conflict survivors taking shelter at the relief camp set up in Ideal Girls College, Akampat.
Speaking on the occasion, H Dingo said that the State Government under the leadership of Chief Minister N Biren Singh has taken a number of steps for the welfare of the conflict survivors who are taking shelter at various relief camps set up across the State.
He asserted that the Government is making all possible efforts to find a lasting solution to end the present conflict and restore peace & normalcy in Manipur at the earliest.

He also appealed to the people to be patient, shun violence and provide their cooperation to the Government's endeavour to bring back peace & harmony in the State.
The Minister continued that the Social Welfare Department has been working hard to help alleviate the suffering of the conflict survivors staying in relief camps and so far benefits under MOAPS have been provided to 82,738 beneficiaries.
"Distribution of MOAPS cards to newly enrolled 1207 beneficiaries has been started and pensions for 346 new beneficiaries of CMWPS have been provided for 3 months from October to December", he added.
The Minister also announced that a sum of Rs 20,000 each will be provided to selected 103 beneficiaries under the National Family Benefit Scheme.
H Dingo further shared that the State Government to promote women empowerment has launched a scheme/ project to provide a sum of Rs 500 each per month to 4 lakh women who are above the age of 40 years.
Notably, 42 beneficiaries of MOAPS and 25 beneficiaries of CMWPS are presently staying at the relief camp in Akampat.
Altogether, 236 beneficiaries of MOAPS and 92 beneficiaries of CMWPS are taking shelter at various relief camps opened in Imphal East district.
Imphal East Deputy Commissioner Khumanthem Diana Devi, Social Welfare Director Ng Uttamkumar, Deputy Director Dhaneswar and other officials also took part in the programme organised by the District Social Welfare Office Imphal East.
