MLA gives clarion call for Meetei unity

The 56th foundation day of Meetei National Assembly (MNA) was held at Manipur Press Club under the theme - For striving "The well survival of the Meetei Sanamahi Religion" recognised by the census of India on 25th July 2003 bearing code no 751 under the Article no 25 and 29 (1), on Thursday.
Speaking as chief guest of the function Lamlai MLA Kh Ibomcha, who is also the chairman of Manipur Handloom and Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited, opined that as no one will come forward to protect the Meeteis from their existential threat, the Meeteis themselves shall have to unite and endeavour for their wellbeing.
Only when the Meeteis become strong, others will respect it.
Therefore, the present generation needs to revere and follow the customs and traditions bestowed by the ancestors.
He also said that the existence of script, language and the territorial boundary will enable the Meeteis to claim itself as a community to the world.
We need keep this intact so as to earn a place for the Meiteis at the global level.
In addition, we should respect others' religions while trying to preserve and protect our own.
MLA Ibomcha also said that there are instances where the people trying to save Manipur from disintegration are resorting to strategies and action which are against the law of the land.
If incidents of taking law into their own hands continue, it would ultimately lead to the imposition of President's Rule in the state, he cautioned while reminding all concerned imposition of PR might lead to deterioration of situation and detrimental to objective to the Meetei people.
The function was also attended by MNA chief advisor Ng Thambalngou Meetei, supreme council president Chandam Ibomcha Meetei, central committee president Wahengbam Pamheiba Meetei and central committee general secretary Wahengbam Sana Leima as presidium members.
