Minister shares JJM success tale in state in Lok Sabha

Imphal, December 21 2023:
As many as 94.99 per cent of schools in the state have potable tap water connections, according to an information provided by minis ter of state for Jal Shakti Rajeev Chandrasekhar in a written reply in the Lok Sabha on Thursday.
The minister said that the government in partnership with states is implementing Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), and a special campaign was launched under JJM to make provision of tap water supply in schools including girls' schools, anganwadi centres and ashramshalas (tribal residential schools) for drinking and cooking of mid-day meals, hand washing and piped water supply in toilets on priority.
So far, provision of potable tap water supply is available in more than 9.23 lakh (90.55%) schools in the country as on December 19,2023.According to the information given by the minister of state, Manipur has 3456 schools and of them 3283 have tap water connections under JJM.
It also said that 1296 schools toilets have constructed/re-constructed under Swachh Bharat: Swachh Vidyalaya initiative (SVI).
The state has 2889 government schools and 2495 have boys' toilets and 2469 have girls' toilets.
