MAYOL's long march reaches Lamsang

Imphal, December 21 2023:
The 'Long March' of Manipur Youth League (MAYOL) carrying the message of 'A New Era for Manipuri Society' has reached Lamsang village in Imphal West district on Thursday evening.
The long march, which was flagged off on Wednesday from Kangla Utra Shanglen, began its journey for the second day from Awang Sekmai village on Thursday with Scheduled Caste Development Committee secretary Usham Johnson flagging off the march.
Large number of people including youths, elders and Meira Paibi members participated in the march shouting slogans like ' Let us unite for tomorrow', ' We will no longer face devastation', 'Long Live Meetei Pokpi Ima', etc.
As the march reached Khurkhul Makha Leikai, a public meeting was held at the local community hall.
From there, the march resumed and reached Lamsang Akham ground where another public meeting was held.
In both meetings, speakers called for unity and participation in politics to bring a new era of a vibrant and strong Manipur.
Later, the march reached Lamsang Praja Higher Secondary School, where the participants will stay overnight.
Political analyst Leihaotha-bam Sharatchandra was the main speaker at the public meeting held at Khurkhul Makha Leikai while Dr Thiyam Bhagat and Sanaleibak editor Hemantakumar Ningomba addressed the gathering at Lamsang Akham ground.
The long march, which is being organised under the theme 'National Regeneration' was planned as a 21-day journey covering 600 km.
On the first day, a public meeting was held at Heingang Kangjeibung and then reached Awang Sekmai, where they stayed overnight.
On the third day, the march will cover Konthoujam, Thangtek, Phoijing and halt at Nambol.
