Imphal, February 17 2024:
No Lok Sabha election related acti-vities will be allowed before the Manipur crisis is resolved, asserted Khwairamband Keithel Joint Coordinating Committee (KKJCC) today.
During a press meet held at Manipur Press Club, Imphal, its convenor, Laishram Memma said Manipur at present is in turmoil and the crisis needs a solution at the earliest.
Lok Sabha election related activities will not be allowed in Manipur before a solution is brought.
Those who are found to be campaigning for the Lok Sabha election will be "paraded" before the people, she said.
"Since May 3 last year, Kuki militants have not ceased attacking Meitei settlements and places of worship.
"Even after 9 months and 15 days, the Government of India and the Government of Manipur have not yet ended the violence or resolved the crisis" she said.
Asking if there is a hidden agenda for not resolving the more than 9 months old crisis, Memma said, until Kuki militants are contained and their attacks on Meiteis do not cease, no village volunteers may be detained or arrested in any of the valley districts.
"Kuki militants have not ceased attacking Meiteis.
Until they are stopped from attacking Meiteis, arms must not be recovered.
The village volunteers guarding Meitei villages must not be detained or arrested," Memma said.
She asserted that "the Kukis militants and their associates would have cleansed the Meiteis from the outskirts of the valley districts if there were no village volunteers" .
"The village volunteers are our sons guarding our villages.
If they are detained or arrested, we as mothers will not hesitate to lay down our lives for their sake," Memma said.
