Two troopers hurt in Kuki attack in Sugnu

Imphal, February 17 2024:
Two personnel of central para military forces have been injured in attacks carried out by Kuki militants using MMG and bombs in Sugnu, on Saturday.
The armed Kuki militants have been raining bullets and bombs in Sugnu area in the last couple of days.
In their latest mortar bomb shelling and firing attack on Saturday around 7:30 am, two security personnel, one from the ITBP and the other from BSF sustained injuries.
According to reports, the BSF trooper attached to 136th battalion stationed at Sugnu Higher Secondary School and identified as head constable Som Dutt (45) of Himachal Pradesh got hurt after a mortar landed and exploded at the school.
He suffered injury on his left shoulder and is undergoing treatment at Shija Hospitals.
The injured ITBP constable has been identified as Prashant Kumar Roy (39) C/25 deployed at Dongjang Village.
He suffered splinter injury on his right side of neck in 51mm mortar shelling.
He Was administered first aid at Sangaikot 36 AR camp and discharged.
The attack by Kuki militants in Sugnu continued till late evening from Dongyang area.
In the attack, a security bunker and number of houses in Sugnu suffered damages.
Sugnu MLA K Ranjit along with Kakching SP Th Bikramjit are stationed at Sugnu since Friday and taking stock of the situation.
