Imphal, February 17 2024:
After suspending service since Friday to protest difficulties faced by oil pump dealers following outrageous monetary demands from different organisations and armed groups, the dealers withdrew their protest on Saturday and announced reopening of the retail outlets from Sunday onwards.
On Saturday, a meeting of the oil dealers held at Hotel Nirmala, here, resolved to withdraw the pump closure agitation.
The dealers had also met with the chief secretary on Friday before taking the decision of withdrawing their stir.
Representatives of oil marketing companies such as IOC, BPCL and HPCED also met the dealers and assured to discuss issues faced by the dealers, while urging them (dealers) to submit writings of the same.
At present, the demands of dealers are yet to be fulfilled.
However, they decided to withdraw the protest and resume services in the interest of people and in view of the current situation in the state and the need for emergency services.
Nonetheless, the dealers conveyed that they would resume the stir if more unbearable pressure are put on them.
