Political conspiracy to depict 2 women as informers : Susindro
Source: The Sangai Express

Imphal, June 24 2023: It was a political conspiracy which wrongly depicted the two women whom he rescued yesterday as informers of Kukis and instigated the people to vandalise his as well as Government properties, claimed CAF & PD Minister L Susindro Meitei.

Addressing media persons at his residence at Khurai Sajor Leikai today, Susindro who is an MLA representing Khurai Constituency continued that he rescued the two women as the foremost responsibility of being an elected representative.

He claimed that some people with vested interest however depicted the two women as informers of Kukis and it led to destruction of private as well as Government properties.

The Minister claimed that the two women who were rounded up and assaulted by a mob were found not guilty after investigation.

Saying that a number of people attacked his house, torched a godown near Sajiwa Jail along Imphal-Ukhrul road and BJP office of Imphal East, he continued that another mob burnt down a godown at Chingarel which stored pipes for a PHED sewage project.

Susindro said that people conspiring to launch an attack on him and destroy Government properties at this critical juncture is truly unfortunate.

The Minister further said that he has been in the forefront to save the people and protect the unity of Manipur since the ethnic violence broke out on May 3 .

Saying that he along with Lamlai AC MLA Kh Ibomcha went to an area of Lamlai next to a hilly portion where a violence broke out yesterday, the Minister claimed they returned towards Imphal after advising the womenfolk to not obstruct the movement of security forces and ambulance services.

Continuing that they came across two women being rounded up by a group of womenfolk at Sabungkhok on the charge of giving information to Kukis, Susindro said that one of the women namely Geeta who was captured by the womenfolk dialled him four times.

He said that Geeta is a resident of Khurai Lamlong and a secretary of Khurai Mothers' Association while another woman who has been accused of giving information to Kukis is Aruna Devi from Keirao who sells homeopathy medicines at Khurai Lamlong.

Maintaining that they along with the volunteers of Sabungkhong inquired whether the charges levelled against the two women were true, Susindro said that they also checked the mobile phones of the two to verify whether they (the two women) sent any classified message to Kukis.

There was no evidence of them giving discreet information to the Kukis, he claimed.

Susindro went on to state that top ranking officials of police and members of COCOMI also took part in the verification.

The two women were sent to a hospital in a police vehicle after they were proven not guilty, Susindro claimed.

Claiming that he however was accused of rescuing Kuki informers and the convoy of his and Lamlai MLA was stopped by a group of people while heading towards Imphal, Susindro said his escort opened some blank fire as some youth tried to attack him.

The Minister claimed that a group of women tried to stop his convoy again near Khurai Konsam Leikai but he clarified that the two women were innocent.

He alleged that some people among the mob, however, tried to take political mileage out of the situation by ignoring his clarification and the same is unfortunate.

Continuing that he met the Chief Minister after the incident before heading to Raj Medicity to see the conditions of the two women, Susindro claimed that two women thanked him and the Lamlai MLA for saving their lives.

Later, a mob torched a BJP office of Imphal East at Khurai and two vehicles used for transporting NFSA rice along with machinery, he said and added that pipes worth Rs 120 crore for PHED sewage project kept at Chingarel have also been burnt by another mob.

The Minister claimed that some people also tried to burn his house.

The Lamlai AC MLA also took part in the press briefing.
