Imphal, September 12 2023:
Strongly condemning the act of assaulting a Meitei Pangal in the most brutal manner on September 8 who also happens to be a Sub-Inspector of Manipur Police, Meitei Pangals have issued strong statements against the Kukis.
Speaking to media persons this afternoon, All Manipur Meitei Pangal Clubs' Organisation (AMMPACO) president FM Manawar Ali said that the Meitei Pangal community neither take side of any group in the ongoing conflict between Kukis and Meiteis nor have they done any wrong.
A man belonging to the Meitei Pangal community was not only beaten black and blue at Churachandpur on September 8 but a pit was also dug right in front of the victim with an intention to bury him, said Manawar adding that the Meitei Pangal community has taken a very serious note of the incident.
The Meitei Pangal community has been working hard to ease the tension between the two warring communities and bring peace to the State, he said.
Subjecting Sabir Ahamad to brutal assault by Kukis at Churachandpur in spite of all the peace efforts of the Meitei Pangal community is a matter of grave concern, Manawar decried.
He said that there were several instances of Kukis attacking/assaulting Meitei Pangals prior to the September 8 incident.
If the Kukis continue to attack Meitei Pangals any more, Meitei Pangals would be constrained to see the Kukis as enemies, the AMMPACO president warned.
It is becoming clearer and clearer that the Kuki aggression is targeting not only Meiteis but also other communities, he remarked.
Categorically asking Kukis to stop attacking Meitei Pangals immediately, Manawar Ali warned that the Meitei Pangals may be constrained to take extreme steps in order to protect their community if the Kukis choose to pay no heed.
Pangal Students' Organisation (PSO) president Farid Bogimayum too condemned the assault on a Meitei Pangal police officer by Kukis at Churachandpur in the strongest terms.
He demanded the assailants to come out and clarify their motive behind the brutal assault on a Meitei Pangal man.
Farid too warned that there will be befitting reply if the Kukis continue to attack/assault Meitei Pangals.
